Co-founder Kate Scherer worked with the Japonesque brand in 2007 in the role of Art Director/Co-Owner at Thread Group agency. There she was a leader on the team responsible for the packaging re-brand.
The challenge was to elevate the brand perception and increase the ability for consumers to self-select while staying within the existing peg display system.
The logo was updated to a sleek and modern silhouette to establish the professional positioning. Boxes were re-designed with open windows for easy identification. Color coded categories and highly stylized product photos made the interior product easy to understand from any angle. The high contrast photography and high shine spot UV added extra pop and a more modern look, while hand-illustrated instructions increased the consumer’s ability to self-select and further customize the feel.
